Donny Afonso, B.Sc., PQS, MRICS

Donny is a Principal of Pelican Woodcliff Inc., a consultancy specializing in cost planning, project monitoring and cost control for private and public sector clients. He has worked in the construction industry since 1997 in various industries and project types in Canada, U.K. and South Africa. He has a breadth of experience in providing construction cost and schedule advice and has acted as Project Manager or Lender’s Project Monitor on numerous projects. He has extensive experience with complex projects that require effective communication and documentation throughout the construction and commissioning phases. Donny has led or supported the Project Management or Project Monitoring (Independent Due Diligence) of construction projects in all sectors and this experience has strengthened his understanding of numerous construction risks and proactive conflict avoidance and effective conflict resolution. He has also acted as Lender’s Technical Advisor and Independent Certifier on various Public Private Partnership (P3) projects

Donny has previously spoken as guest lecturer at BCIT on the topic of P3 and its risks from a quantity surveyor’s perspective and construction Scheduling.

Donny has participated in various boards in various roles including being a previous President for CACQS for 2 years. He is a current CACQS Board member and is the Chair of the Ontario Chapter Executive of Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS).
