Canada’s Consulting Quantity Surveyor Industry takes great pride in its recent accomplishments, and the role the Association plays in representing Consulting QS Firms, large and small. Our continuing engagement with the Federal Government, with RICS and the CIQS, has consistently showcased the enormous value Consulting QS Firms bring to Canada’s Construction and Financing Sectors. Education programs, webinars and collaborative ventures have filled important gaps in QS awareness and professional development. Professional QS Firms across Canada have benefitted from greater exposure and educational opportunities for their teams. Much credit is owed to Glenn Hultzer, who championed the Association’s post-COVID activities with great success and now serves as Past President. As the recent CACQS AGM, opening remarks were provided by Tammy Stockley (CIQS) and Michael Zuriff (RICS). CACQS continues to be led by Ben Postma as President, Angela Lai as VP, Ade Ijogun as Secretary and Joe Pendlebury as our long-suffering Treasurer. Other Board Directors include Susan Neil, Kevin Mcgill, Donny Afonso, Michael Gabert and Sami Chalhoub. Dale Panday and Patrick Vallerand also support the Board as alternates. Together the Board of Directors represent a broad spectrum of Consulting QS Firms, and are active in all Provinces. Paul Conway serves as the Association’s Executive Director, assisted by Thomas Stickel. As the CACQS’s consultation, training and webinar agenda for 2026/27 evolves, non-member firms are encouraged to visit cacqs.ca and reach out to explore greater participation in the Association’s ongoing advocacy efforts.

CACQS and the QS Community loses a valued member

The CACQS wishes to pay tribute to the life and contributions of Ken King, PQS, MRICS, who passed away August 11th after a determined battle with cancer. Ken was the CACQS’s principal instructor over the past several years, sharing his vast knowledge of Quantity Surveying and Loan Monitoring with Commercial Lenders and developing Quantity Surveyors. Ken was an excellent instructor who openly shared his experience and passion with new professionals, and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to engage with and mentor others in the field. Born in Saskatchewan, Ken migrated west over his career, working with governments and QS firms as he perfected his skills. Throughout his 50 years of professional QS work, Ken was always recognized for his leadership and commitment to excellence. Ken represented the best in all of us – a personable and dedicated QS professional, a valued colleague, and a devoted family man. He will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues. Ken’s family is planning a Celebration of Life for early 2027 (details TBA).
